Compare and Contrast

When time changes thing also change. Things like culture. Language. And ruler. Each of them also has its own history. In this essay we will be covering about Kassite dynasty and Iron Age.

First we’ll start with culture. In each period of time, sometimes the culture changes due to ruler or change in each one’s belief. Kassite dynasty is a period where the culture is mostly use of steles. Their artifacts are mostly made of steles to make a boundaries or proclamations. All of their artifacts are carved by a high skill artistic. For Iron Age, there’s really no culture because Iron Age is a period of time where people mostly use iron.

Second is Language. There’s no specific language for Kassite. They only have about 60 words, mostly referring to colors, parts of the chariot, irrigation terms, plants, and titles. About 200 elements can be gained by observing things like anthroponomy, toponyms, theonyms, and horse names used by the Kassite. This means that Kassite spoke a language without a genetic relationship with the others. Iron Age has a lot of languages because it’s been spread into many parts of the world like Europe and Asia. The languages are mostly English and Italian.

The third is ruler. Iron Age doesn’t have its specific s ruler because it’s been spread into many parts of the world so it doesn’t have a high king or a high ruler. Kassite dynasty has a lot of ruler like Agum II or Agum-Kakrime and Burnaburiash I.

The last is history. According to Wikipedia about Iron Age “Archaeological evidence as it was known until the 1980s generally identified the start of this production as taking place in Anatolia around 1200 BC. Lack of evidence made it seem unlikely that iron production was begun any earlier elsewhere, and the iron age was seen as a problem of simple diffusion of a new and superior technology from an invention point in Anatolia to other regions. Recent archaeological work has modified this chronology, but also the causes of the transition from bronze to iron. New dates from India suggest that iron was being worked there as early as 1800 BCE, and Africa sites are turning up dates as early as 1200 BCE.” For Kassite dynasty, the original homeland of the Kassites is still a secret, but it appears to be located in the Zagros Mountains in Lorestan in Iran. Their first historical appearance happened in the 18th century BC when they attacked Babylonia in the 9th year of the reign of Samsu-iluna”

In conclusions, the languages are not really the same and also their history. But still there are some similarities.

Compare and Contrast

The Code of Hammurabi and Thai law comparison. There are differences and similarities between The Code Of Hammurabi and Thai law. For example they law, punishment. But, there are mostly differences than similarities.

The Code Of Hammurabi and Thai law for how they think about the law are kind of similar. For example like the code of Hammurabi and Thai law has law about person who steal things, beat other peoples they all have to be punishment. So with both of Hammurabi and Thai law are a little bit similar.

With the punishment, they are very difference more than similar. Because, for example, if there is person who steal things from church with Hammurabi code that person will be put to dead. But, if that person is in Thailand he/she will just be in jail. For punishment in Mesopotamia they will mostly put the person who did wrong to dead. But, for Thai they just become prisoner. So they are very difference with the punishment.

Between The Code Of Hammurabi and Thai law, they are difference. For example The Code of Hammurabi is very famous. Everyone knows it and it’s been recorded to be a history of Mesopotamia. But, Thai law it wasn’t, Thai law isn’t famous and mostly everyone doesn’t know how Thai law works and didn’t interest in Thai law like The Code Of Hammurabi.

Therefore, The Code Of Hammurabi and Thai law are difference more than similar. They have very differences of the way they punish people who did wrong things. Even though, they are a little bit similar with how they manage the laws. They are still difference more than similar.

Monotheism and Polytheism - Compare and Contrust Essay

Compare and Contrast Essay
Monotheism and Polytheism
By: Ekachai Dumrongruxsoontorn (Ping) 10M

There is many religion in the world. Some religion may believe in one God, and some may believe in many God. In religon, people believe that Gods have power that can help livingthings. Every religion have to do somethings for their god, which are worship or sacrification to thier god.

Everyone has thier own religion. Some may believe in one God like Judaism or some may believe in many God like Sumerian. Jews believe that there is a single God who not only created the universe, but with whom every Jew can have an individual and personal relationship. (BBC 2009-09-14) And Sumerians practiced a polytheistic religion, with anthropomorphic deities representing cosmic and terrestrial forces in their world. (Karen Rhea Nemet-Nejat, 1998) God also has power and jobs to do to help people.

Religion believe that God has power that can help people. Jews believe that God appointed the Jews to be his chosen people in order to set an example of holiness and ethical behaviour to the world. (BBC 2009-09-14) But, Sumerians believe that Gods like Enki and Inanna were viewed as having been assigned their rank, power and knowledge from An, the heaven deity, or Enlil, head of the Sumerian pantheon. (Karen Rhea Nemet-Nejat, 1998) When God help people, people also need to thanks god.

Every religion worship their God. When Jews people pray, they spend time with God and serve God with their heart, and obey God's commandment. (BBC 2009-09-13) In the Christian religion the belief developed that the story of Isaac's binding and of Jepthah's virgin daughter were foreshadowing for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and whose sacrifice and resurrection allowed the sins of mankind to be washed away. There is a tradition that the site of the binding of Isaac, Moriah, was also the city of Jesus's future crucifixion. (Newmantoronto March 11, 2004)

In conclusion, every religion are different, which some religion believe in one god and others believe in many god. As there're God who creates world, which means God has power. Every religion need to practice their religion for that their believe to make God happy.

Hammurabi and King Solomon - Compare and Contrast Essay

Compare and Contrast Essay
Hammurabi and King Solomon
By: Kanyanok Eiamsantipaisarn (Eye) 10M

In history class, Mesopotamia and Egypt were the topics that have been discussed. During each time period of Mesopotamia, the most famous king was Hammurabi and King Solomon. But who will know that these two kings are similar in many ways. Both are the great kings who have a very strong power. Both encouraged trade. And lastly, both also care about temple, they built temple. Therefore, on the whole, Hammurabi and King Solomon were similar to each other.

Hammurabi and King Solomon have a strong power. According to hyperhistory, Hammurabi was the first ruler of Babylon Empire. Then he united all of the Mesopotamia (what is today known as Iran) to become under his rule. He justly ruled the people with the fair law. In 1786 B.C. he wrote 282 laws about governing family, criminal punishment, civil law, ethics, business, prices, trade known as “the Code of Hammurabi”. King Solomon was known for his wisdom, his wealth and his writing. As one evident, he was a judge for one lawsuit. With his cleverness, he could solve the problem easily. This made him became best known and people surrounding the nation also wanted to come and hear his wisdom. (Schoenberg, 2010) In conclusion, Hammurabi and King Solomon were the same for their strong power.

Another similarity was about encouraged trade. Hammurabi waged several campaigns. The purpose of this was to gain control of the Tigris and Euphrates waters. It was the important source for surrounding notion’s agriculture. For other campaigns is to control the trade way to the mines in Iraq. These were an important part in trading. (Giokaris, Gelfand, & Engelmann, 2003) Schoenberg S. said that King Solomon accumulated enormous wealth. He has a large share trade with north and south countries. It can be considered as his prosperous era. So this is another way of similarity between Hammurabi and King Solomon.

Hammurabi and King Solomon kept focus on temple. As a ruler, Hammurabi built temple. Although, Hammurabi is not famous in building temple, but he also gave attention to it. In his code, there was a law about temple: “If any one steal the property of a temple or of the court, he shall be put to death, and also the one who receives the stolen thing from him shall be put to death”, stated by Marin, P. (Jackson J. Spielvogel, 2003) King Solomon is best known for building a temple. He began to build the Holy Temple. He used the wood from King Hiram and all the nations that were under his control. It built up of stone and cedar and overlaid with pure gold. The temple took seven to complete, as Schoenberg, S. has written on her article. Therefore, it could be conclude that both Hammurabi and Solomon are focused and gave attention to temple.

In conclusion, Hammurabi and King Solomon are having things in common. They both have such a great strong power. They both encouraged trade and gain enormous wealth. Temple also took a big part in their period. Therefore, it could be said that both kings are similar to each other. They are a great king in a history which is valuable to study.

My Day At Rayong...

Have you ever laugh so hard and you can’t stop? I’ve been that situation before. This is my story…
It was a week after the government imposed a curfew. My family was planed to go to visit my cousins at Rayong. On the way to Rayong I was wondered “Is this trip going to be fun or not?” When we arrived I was very excited. My cousins invited us to come inside the house and show us where our room is. That night my family just hangs out sang karaoke, drunk some alcohol and went to bed. Next day my mom, my cousins and me went to the beach. I was very excited to see the beach again because, last time I went to the beach it was long time ago. For a little while I saw the beach, the beauty brown sand and the blue cloud. I love beach! So we sat and ordered some seafood to eat like shells, crabs, and fishes. About 15 minutes later, the waiter came and served us our foods. But, only for a little while there’re many flies flied to our foods and disturbing us. My mom and my cousins tried so hard to made those flies flied away so we’ll be happy with our foods. But when we can displace some of it the new group of flies come again. That made one of my cousins very mad and then she acted like she has some ideas. We were wondered what would she do. Then she shouted “Hey! Curfew! Go home!” When we heard that everyone of us were laughing so hard and can’t stop. For me, that was the funniest trip at Rayong.

Bus Station

When I was 10 years old, I went to Chang Mai with my brother. My father told me and my brother to go Chiang Mai to see my grandmother. I was very scared and exited, because I and my brother need to stay in the bus for half day long. I never sat on the bus and there’s no one I knew, except my bother. I was a little kid that time and it was very scary to stay in the bus for a little innocent kid with his brother who also never sat in the bus. I think badly to my father why he must leave me at the bus station and let we go by our self.

When we arrived at the bus station, we don’t know where to go and there’s no one we knew. Luckily there’s a lady who came and ask we where we will go, so we told her where we want to go. Finally, we are in the bus. The cold air that blew from the air condition and a noise from a lot of people. We leave the bus station about few minutes ago and I fall asleep.

At midnight, I feel bad and wanted to go to the toilet, so I ask my brother to take me there. The toilet was on the first floor of the bus. When I went inside, the toilet was very smelly and small. It’s hard for me to pee, because the bus is shaking all the time. I finish peeing, then I came out of the toilet and went back to sleep.

On the morning, we arrived at Chiang Mai bus station. We walk out from the bus and it’s very different to Bangkok. There’s no taxi and the road is smaller and the houses are different. My brother telephone to my father and asked where our grandmother house is, then he explain to us where to go and where the house are. Finally, we arrived at grandma house. I told the bad things that my father does to us to my grandma. She smile and say “Your father just want you to experience by yourself how hard is life”. I listen and think badly for what I’ve say.

We stay there for 2 weeks, then we leave grandma house. We went back to the bus station and wait for the bus ready to go. When the bus came, we walk up to find our seat then we slept. Finally, we arrived Bangkok. The temperature was warmer than Chiang Mai and we feel that it’s a good adventure to experience, then we went back to our home.

My first day in school

Schools are always the same. The only difference is that there will be new students. New teachers. New topic to study every new school year.

This is my second year in NIVA so I'm excited to see my friends on the first day of school. When I first reach the school I was in a hurry to meet my friends so I quickly ran to the basketball court to see what room I was in then I went to my class. The first person I saw was Inc and Earth.

When I saw them they were the same. The only difference I saw is that Earth cut his hair and he got darker skin. So I say hi to him and continue walking to my class. Then I saw a lot of people standing and sitting in front of my room. I was surprised that why there's a lot of people so I think to my self that there will be a whole new pack of new students in our grade.

There's also a new teachers in our school and I've been studying with some of them. Each of the teacher has their own way of teaching. Some of them may teach us in a way that make us write notes some may not. What I prefer is not writing notes. I don't really like writing notes because it's kind of boring and wasting time. I don't get anything from making notes except boredom.

So, it's kind of exciting on the first day but the rest are still the same. I would like to end this essay by saying that every school day is the same except the first day of it.

My Day at Choom Porn

Last year, my family planned to go to Choom Porn after finishing QingMing Festival at Hai Yai. On that day, I have to pull myself up from the bed at four in the morning. I was very sleepy. I got in a car and slept like I didn’t sleep for a month. The pillow was very soft like a cotton wool. The only time I would awake was the time I have to eat. I didn’t know how much time was passed but we reached Hai Yai at about five pm. On the next day, I still needed to wake up at five. I saw my aunt was very busy this morning. At the cemetery, my cousins and I have a very hard time finding our grandparent’s grave. It was like we are searching for a value treasure. I felt very dizzy because I didn’t have breakfast yet. Every thing went so confused. About an hour passed, we finished the festival. Then my dad set on the firecrackers which was the last thing we have to do. The firecrackers were very loud as the megaphone.

The day after, we leaved Hai Yai in the early morning. It took about five hours to reach Choom Porn. Suddenly, my dad got lost from other. We were in a small Soi where it was only our car inside. My dad tried to follow the navigator that told exactly how many kilometers he has to drive. Nevertheless, he still turned into the wrong direction. He drove into one temple and having a hard time u-turn a car. Finally, he has to call my elder sister and asked for the direction. When we reached the hotel, actually it was home stay, everyone was there waiting for us. I went into my room. It was so fantastic. Everything was prepared for us like I’m a king. After finishing unpacked thing, my elder sister invited us to the beach. She called my twin and pulled her to another side of the beach. They discussed something together and smiled at me. I felt like some bad thing would happen to me.

My thought was correct. I was thrown into sea. The water was more salty than salt. I was choked on water so many times. I felt very bad during that time. After that, all of my cousins were being all the same. Then we played game in the water who lose would be thrown into water. It was very fun. But when we’re about to quit, one of my brother started walking down though the sea like the broken heart actor. We have to call him several times in order to make him awoke from his day dreaming We walked back together like the ending in the movie.

Pr!ZoN

I woke up at 6.30 a.m, and everything is so confused. I need to follow the rule that they have given. A place where I must be trained, It just like a prison! I must stay under the sun at 7.30 a.m like a Sahara desert, where everyone also need stand still. We sang a song and listen to annoucement, that is very boring and noisy. I need to work hard and be trained badly. I must stay in the prison for almost half day long and can't do anything wrong or else I will be punish and scold like a dog. When It's 3.00 o'clock I'll have freedom. But every time I went there It gives more knowledge and education.

A cave

At this place, a cave where I can't find the way out. I've been stuck here since I was young. Feel uncomfortable, and don't have much freedom. First time I've been here it's kinda excited. But, when the day passes it's boring and not interesting anymore. I do have some animals that are my friends such as a rabbit lilttle cute living thing who never ever hurt anyone and a snake, a dangerous living thing. I have to be quiet most of the time. Because, if a snake hear my voice it may bite me. So I really have to be careful about what I did. Finally, I know I will find the way out soon! :')

Inside a Car

I'm driving in a car trying to go somewhere I think it is the best place for me. Every day, every night, I'm driving. Traffic. Traffic. Traffic makes me feel bored. The sounds of the radio that I need to focus on is annoying me. It is a same voice and a same thing every day. At least, some news are useful for me. It's taught me how to do thing perfectly or even give me some power. I have to sit there in front of a steer. Eight hours a day never stop. Cannot feel sleepy, this is the first rule of driving car. Even though I may have traveling friend, but I know they will leave me one day. When they reach their place, it will left only me again driving alone in a dark road, suffering where is the exit. Day by day, I have been driving, having a gas station as my supporter. Signpost is not always true. Many times, I lost the way, confusing where to go. Finally I find an old map which tell me every places, every roads, and where I should go. And I hope one day I can choose my own way and go further...

Feeling about the school

I'm walking in a place called Supermarket. Sometimes it's hard to do or find something. Sometimes it's boring. Sometimes it can be interesting. It may also give us a knowledge about something. For example, we will learn about how to select a fresh fish or a fresh vegetable. It's a place that we will spend a lot of money in order to do these things. The supermarket will bring new things to make it more interesting, so that we will buy it. In the end, it's still boring and the things that we learned will be forgotten.

No Speak English

First of all, Mamacita is homesick. Same as everyone if one day they have been far away from the place where they lived, surely they will feel homesick. What is the word “homesick” means? Why Mamacita’s homesick?

Homesick is when you’ve been far away from your home. Whatever the reasons are. You will feel miss your home and realize that everything is not the same as before, feeling strange and felt sad. So that’s what homesick mean.

Mamacita’s felt homesick because she had to move to place where she never been before with her husband who took her the baby boy here to work for their two. Even though, her husband painted her room to pink color but she still sad because, she feel nothing about it except felt missing her own home.

Second reason why mamacita’s homesick is she can’t speak English so that made mamacita don’t have any friends and have to stay at her room all day long. So when she felt lonely, miss her home, and when she listen to her country songs it made her felt sad that’s why she cried and homesick.

Therefore, mamacita is homesick because she missed her home and she can’t speak or understand English so she has a hard time living in this new country. So these are the reasons why mamacita’s homesick.

No Speak English ( Why Mamacita is homesick?)

Have you ever heard the word "There's no place like home". Home is a place where we can feel peace, safe and secure. It does not make us feel happy only but it also makes us feel angry, sick, bored or maybe even insecure. There is really nothing that makes us feel like home and that is what Mamacita is feeling like.

Home, everybody has a home. What do you feel when you are not at home? Do you feel homesick? Or do you feel scared and unsafe? When most people left their home for a short time, they feel nothing because anyway after a while they will go back. But for some other people, they left their home for work or studies at other country for a long period of time. Some will continue their university at other countries like America or England. What they will feel is homesick and want to come home.

Before I begin this paragraph I would like to tell you again that "There's no place like home". Everything has it's strengths and it's flaws. For this topic, the strength is we will feel happy, peace, safe and secure but the flaw is we can sometimes feel angry, sick, bored and insecure.

Not only at home that we can feel angry, sick, bored and insecure. We can experience these feeling anywhere like at school or at work. But the most common is at home. When we are mostly at home we will feel peace and safe because we are with our family and it's place where we spent most of the time. We can even study or work at our house if we are sick or it's difficult to go to work.

All in all, home is a place where we feel safe and secure. If we go to other people's house for a long time we will miss our house and we will try to change that house feeling to the way we like it. I would like to end this essay by saying that "There's no place like home".

No Speak English

People rather stay home when they don’t know where to go. Such as the story “No Speak English”, the mamacita doesn’t know where to go, so she rather stays home. The reason why she doesn’t go anywhere is because she can’t speak English clearly. She also missed her home a lot and she can’t go back. And last, she is too big and it’s hard for her to travel from place to place.
English is the most important language in the world. If we don’t know English, we can’t communicate with other foreigners and we will be home sick in their country. Such as the story “No Speak English”, mamacita who doesn’t know English well can’t communicate with other people, so she rather stay in her room than went out somewhere. Everybody miss their home when they went somewhere out of their country.
Everybody can’t forget their home that their miss their home. Their will start thinking of their home and wanted to go back. As the story “No Speak English”, mamacita really wanted to go back to her home, but her husband needs to stay in Mexico and work ,so she also need to stay there. She will start to cry when she think of her home like everybody. It’s hard for huge or big people to travel from place to place.
It’s hard for fat people travel from place to place. It will cause a lot of problems like the story “No Speak English”, which the mamacita stay in the taxi and will went back to her apartment. When the taxi arrived, she needs someone to help pull her out of the taxi, which is cause problem. So she rather stays home often than went somewhere else.
Everybody miss their own home, they will start thinking of their home when they are far away from their home. As you will go somewhere out of the country, you should know how to speak English or else you will don’t know what to do. Fat people rather stay home or it will cause many problems to other people and yourself.

Why we do not have to follow grammar rules in writing short story

Book is our best friend. I’m sure everyone will agree with that. But have you ever noticed that most of the story will have at least ten grammar mistakes. I will say that we do not have to follow grammar rules in writing short story. Each person has their own style in writing book. There are three grammar rules that the author usually break. Sometimes, the author will use slang words or conversation to make us feel the feeling of characters. In conclusion following the rules is not always required in writing short and long story.

To write a short story, each person will have their own way to produce or make their sentences. Even though it may not be their real natural innate style, but people will remember that it is their style. For example, in the story 'No Speak English', Sandra Cisneros, the author, used the sentence “Home. Home. Home is house in a photograph” to give us more pressure and to feel that it is home while we are reading it. This sentence also provides a grammar mistake, but it is Sandra’s way to make a sentence more attraction. As long as the sentence is giving us a positive feeling, it is alright to not follow the grammar rules.

The author usually breaks three grammar rules: ending the sentence with preposition, beginning sentence with ‘and’ or ‘but’, and splitting infinitives. Stated by CopyBlogger, these three rules are made to be broken. Most people try to switch the sentence not to end with preposition. Sometimes, it even makes a sentence terrible to read. In the interest of readability, it is all right to end a sentence with a preposition. In the same case, to start a sentence with ‘and’ or ‘but’, it is now acceptable to start the sentence with conjunction. You are not allowed another word to come between ‘to’ and its verb. This is the last rule to be broken. For example “To go boldly” it is better to write as “To boldly go”, so sometimes it is all right to split the infinitive. Therefore, on the whole, it is find to not follow the grammar rules in writing story.

We do not have to follow grammar rules because sometimes it also requires the author to use slang words. It will be easy for us to understand more about the character’s feeling. For example, if the character is teenager. The author may use the sentence like ‘I’m baaack’ to show that she or he is speak in a drawl. So that we will understand more feeling about how the character is doing. That is why we do not have to use correct grammar in writing story.

In conclusion, following the grammar rules in writing book sometimes seem annoying for us. We don’t have to follow the rules every time we write a book. People may have one’s style to make their best sentences. There are also some silly grammar rules that we can break. It is also giving us more poetic flavor while reading a book. Therefore, on the whole, it is not always required for the authors to follow the grammar rules.
